Lao PDR, a Brief Guide

Lao PDR, A Chilled out place

My flight was packed with foreigners when I landed here. Along with three Indians most were either from Europe or from America. Although the capital city, there was nothing much to see, less crowd on road, chilled people and day ends by 7-8 in evening. Being from a country where Rush is the another name of life, it was not easy for me to digest when one of my local friends stated that " you know what is the meaning of Lao PDR ? It means Please Do Not Rush".

Slowly I started enjoying the chilled life of Laos. This style of living attracts most of the foreigner who are just looking for a place to relax and enjoy nature away from fast moving world.
Laos is developing fast. Lot of project is going on in Lao jointly with many neighbor countries. Still with the development Lao have preserved their culture. The village life is refreshingly simple.

Roadways is the prime way of communication. There is no railways in Laos. Domestic flights are available for north and south part of Laos. Buses also play between renowned city of neighboring countries like Thailand Vietnam and Cambodia. Long journey local buses are comfortable. Bus tickets are easily available. Tuktuk is is the means of communication inside city.

Laos is landlocked with Thailand and Vietnam Sharing most of the border, Cambodia in the south and Burma where it makes a triangle known as Golden Triangle. Mekong River locally known as Mae Nam Khong virtually defines Laos and Thailand borders.
